A day out with your best friend: West Gippsland
Toorongo & Amphitheatre Falls
Surrounded by lush ferns and mossy rocks, these cascading falls belong on a postcard. Dogs on a lead are welcome to take the 2.2km forested loop walk.
Nangara Reserve
Take a stroll with your dog through this tranquil piece of bush paradise, dotted with sculptures made by local artists.
Glen Nayook Rainforest Reserve
This 1.5km walk wanders through rich green ferns and moss-covered granite boulders, following the Tarago River to a fern gully where the river mystically manoeuvres to run underground.
Narracan Falls
Wander through a wide field towards the sound of the cascading waterfall of your left. A short dirt path between the trees takes you down to the river bank in front of the waterfall. Bring the kids and a picnic. Dogs on lead only.

Explore Laurie Collins’s magical garden, marvelling at sculptures transformed from old pieces of junk.
Uralla Nature Reserve
Get lost among verdant ferns and moss-covered logs at Uralla Nature Reserve, a fairytale glen full of towering gums. Dogs welcome on lead.
Blue Rock Lake
Enjoy a spot of fishing or take your dog for a paddle on the water. End a lazy afternoon at one of the barbecues, where you can sizzle up a sausage for your best friend.

Central Gippsland
Blue Pool
A pebbled beach next to the natural water hole at Freestone Gorge is the perfect spot for a paddle with your pup, or take a wander on the tracks around the lake. There is a free campsite 500m from the water's edge, where dogs are welcome.
Traralgon Railway Conservation Reserve
Grab your dog and enjoy the paths and boardwalks winding around woodlands, grasslands and wetlands filled with native flora and fauna. On lead only.
Edward Hunter Bush Reserve
Stroll through the peaceful remnant bushland surrounding a large lake in Moe.
East Gippsland
Bemm River Scenic Reserve
Pets are allowed at the Bemm River Campground.
Cape Conran Coastal Park
Visit this stunning wide sandy beach, bookended by salmon-coloured rocky outcrops.
Cape Conran Nature Trail
Take an on-lead stroll along East Cape Boardwalk through banksia woodlands with views across the turquoise ocean. The Banksia Bluff campground has dog friendly sites.
South Gippsland
George Bass Coastal Walk
Take your pooch for a clifftop walk (on lead) along the dramatic Bass Coast. There’s a beach that’s ripe for a run, and the 14km return walk will be sure to tire out both four and two legged friends.
Agnes Falls
Take your canine friend to visit this scenic waterfall, plunging from a jaw-dropping height of 59 metres. Picnic-perfect, the reserve is a shady blue gum and wattle forest, with a background track of the waterfall and birdsong.
Screw Creek Nature Walk
Dogs on lead are welcome on the boardwalk that weaves through populated salt marshes and mangroves to Townsend Bluff, with gorgeous views over Anderson Inlet.
The Gurdies Nature Conservation Reserve
Enjoy the beautiful bushland of The Gurdies with your furry friend on lead only. Keep an eye out for birdlife, wallabies and echidnas.
Mouth of Powlett River
Bring your lilo, a picnic and the family to enjoy the golden sands of Powlett River. The wide slow river makes a great paddling spot with plenty of dunes to explore. Dogs permitted on lead only.
