Immerse yourself in this hidden bushland retreat, laced with lakeside walking tracks and bird song.
Just 2km south of Traralgon's city centre, the reserve is packed with paths and boardwalks that wind through woodlands, grasslands and wetlands full of native plants and wildlife.
Dogs are permitted at Traralgon Railway Reservoir Conservation Reserve.
Located on Gunaikurnai Country, the reserve has a rich history. Back in the 1880s, it formed part of the railway line between Sale and Melbourne, with the reservoir used to service steam trains. These days, it’s a peaceful oasis for nature lovers. Grab your best bird watching binoculars, throw on some comfy walking shoes and bring a picnic to make a day of it.
There are around 3 kilometres of walking tracks to explore. The main loop takes you around the lake for the best views and past the bird hide, where you’ll often spot swans, ducks and other water birds living their best life. Dogs are welcome on lead.
