The 10 reasons why Inverloch needs to be on your list, from walks and beaches to surf lessons, wineries, markets and dinosaurs.
1. HIT THE BEACHES
No visit to Inverloch is complete without soaking up Inverloch’s breezy maritime vibes. For gentle surf and little-people sized waves, head to the Inverloch Foreshore, a protected inlet, or for stronger waves and fantastic surfing breaks hit the Surf Beach to the west of the town centre.
There are a series of coves between Inverloch and Cape Paterson known for surfing and snorkelling – try The Caves for rock fossicking, Shack Bay or The Oaks. The Bunurong Coastal Drive hugs the clifftop overlooking the spectacular coastline, delivering lush panoramas.

2. WALKS & WANDERS
The Inverloch Foreshore Walking Track is your go-to for a leisurely stroll along the foreshore around the town centre. This 5km round-trip offers picturesque views of Anderson Inlet and Point Smythe.
Enjoy the beautiful Screw Creek Nature Walk (1.5km), which winds through salt marshes and mangroves as it ascends Townsend Bluff, rewarding with stunning vistas of Anderson Inlet.
While it’s a solid 20 min drive back toward Melbourne, the George Bass Coastal Walk steals hearts without even trying. Perhaps it’s those gob-smacking high cliffs, or the dramatic rocky coastline or sections that traverse secluded beaches, but we’re pretty sure this 7km walk is just showing off.

3. BROWSE THE TOWN CENTRE
Meander through the Inverloch town centre, diving into boutique clothing stores, homewares and gifts (we’re looking at you Salt & Sand Clothing, Mookah and Dot + Lu Boutique Homewares). A visit to Fiona Kennedy’s Art Studio is a must to see her striking canvases, with her signature colour explosion of whimsy. You can meet the artist, experience her workspace and even purchase a piece to adorn your walls at home.

Just out of Inverloch, Harman Wines’ cellar door and restaurant offers a place to meet, eat and drink in the tranquil surrounds. Share tapas and wood fired pizzas featuring home grown and local produce, along with delicious homegrown wines, local beers and ciders, to the backing track of local musicians.
In town, sample the delicious selection including Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling, Rose and Sparkling at the Dirty Three Wines cellar door. Along the rocky shore of The Caves, about five minutes out of town, is the site where more than 15,000 bones, teeth and footprints from small dinosaurs have been found. Guided tours are held by the South Gippsland Conservation Society.
