Make your way down a windy staircase to discover your own secluded slice of paradise along the Bass Coast.

Shack Bay is one of a collection of bays and coves tucked into deep cliffs along the Bunurong Coast. These great cliffs make for superb vantage points to take in the contours of this dramatic stretch of coastline or to spot whales (May to November).

The beach is a relatively protected bay, although rips are strong. There are good surf breaks here - but take care of the rocks.

Hazards: Rips and high tide range
Foreshore: Backed by a steep bluff, the sandy beach is 150m long and there are rock flats leading in to the water
Boat launching: No
Activities: Surfing and swimming (with caution, best at high tide). No fishing allowed in the Bunurong Coastal Reserve
Access: A walk down a steep wooden staircase from the car park
Dogs: No dogs permitted
