Neerim South lies amidst lush hills, a short drive north of Warragul.

The small town has the Great Dividing Range to thank for the dreamy panoramas across both bush and pastured countryside. The rolly-polly hills are in their element bathed in soft morning light or at sunset when they become alight with a thousand hues of crimson and peach.

Neerim South captures the alpine traffic as those in search of adventure head toward the Baw Baw Plateau. A popular stopover in its own right, the town offers sumptuous scenery and country charm.

Things to do in Neerim South

Driving in to the town you can’t miss the Neerim Bower flanking the road, an impressive sculptural gateway to the town. At almost seven storeys high, the intertwined blue sticks of the immense piece of public art pays homage to the indigenous Satin Bowerbird.
An epicentre for idyllic countryside, Neerim South is an artsy town attracting creative-types. The Serigraph Gallery is open by appointment, for an eclectic mix of modern art, paintings and fine furniture is on display. The talented team at Candalaraine Alpacas make exquisite alpaca fleece garments, woven into wearable works of art, available at their boutique store.
The Neerim South Wetlands is home to a small series of ponds linked by a boardwalk and makes for a pleasant stroll near the town centre. Hear frogs croak, spot water birds and wildflowers on this short walk.
Ride the Rokeby to Neerim Rail Trail. Head south 8.2km to Rokeby, through verdant fern gullies and ancient forest or marvel at the Crossover Trestle Bridge.
Apex Lookout on the Main Neerim Road just north of town rewards with soulful views of the landscape and nearby Tarago Reservoir.

Neeri Nuff Wine Bar & Kitchen is a stylish hangout to sip on a wine and sample a Gippsland-centric menu of intricate small bites, larger plates, charcuterie and cheese.

Five Aces Brewing Co marry up their small-batch, hand crafted brews with a side of live music and oh so tasty beer food.

It’s hard to go past the speciality butcher Jindi Pig Butchers while you’re in town, the masters of free range pork, legendary flavoured sausages and smoked meats. More gourmet goods can be sought from the Jindivick Country Market, alongside local arts and crafts.

St. Fiacres Farm sells seasonal produce, homemade condiments and a selection of cool climate wines from their vineyard.

Neerim South Wetlands is home to a series of lakes connected by a walking trail and boardwalk. The walking path and boardwalk is wide and flat, suitable for wheelchairs. There is disabled parking access.
