A happy little town nestled into the foothills of the Strzelecki Ranges.
Boolarra traditionally lures those looking for a taste of rural lifestyle but also has surprising attractions for outdoor enthusiasts and music lovers alike.

Nature & Outdoors

Set off on a cycling adventure through the hilly countryside on the 13km Grand Ridge Rail Trail to Mirboo North. The trail traverses steep embankments and over impressive arch bridges which conquer the hilly countryside, ending conveniently at the Grand Ridge Brewery.
Get off the beaten track and drive the gravel Morwell River Road to get to the Morwell River Falls Reserve just outside of Boolarra. Tucked away, it is a place of peace; it’s remote location and dense bushland is part of its charm. A walking trail takes you from the carpark past a series of stunning cascades in the upper reaches of the Morwell River in this oasis of native bush.
In a patch of state forest just outside the town, you’ll find the Old Mill Site under its gum tree canopy. This corner of forest has recently been developed with well signed, accessible walking trails that traverse the sun dappled bush land and fern gullies. A bird hide is a pleasant place to take in the birdlife in the wetland area, or roll out a picnic rug on the grassy area at the Foster Road entrance (toilets and a gazebo are there for your convenience).
EAT & DRINK
The Boolarra Community Pub is proof that the locals need their watering hole. In 2017 some clever locals made sure the pub was here to stay by setting it up as a trust with the local community taking out shares. Tuck into cafe fare under wide umbrellas amongst the leafy surrounds or grab a cold one in the classic rustic pub.

EVENTS
Boolarra is also home of the annual Boolarra Folk Festival (held March, annually) where a day of live music is enjoyed under tall gums, in the beautiful country township.
Accessibility
There are more than 6km of wheelchair friendly walking tracks at the Old Mill Site.
