Mt St Gwinear is an accessible snow field with toboggan runs and areas for snow play, perfect for families, located on the dashing Baw Baw Plateau.
Imagine wombat prints impressed in the soft snow, winding towards icy creeks in winter, and dreamy strolls via stands of snow gums in warmer months.
Mt St Gwinear is an easy 45 min drive from Moe or Traralgon. Better yet, there is no entry fee, so you can treat the family to lunch at a nearby cafe or finish with a pub dinner nearby in Erica, Rawson or Walhalla.
Make sure you check the conditions before you go - at times it is necessary to carry or fit snow chains on your vehicle.
When temperatures drop, Mt St Gwinear is an accessible snow field with toboggan runs and areas for snow play, perfect for families. Get back to nature and let loose with some good old fashioned snowball fights and snowman building. Countless hours can be spent weaving through the uniquely Australian alpine landscape on cross country skis or snowshoes.
There are two toboggan runs to slide your sillies out at Mt St Gwinear. You can BYO toboggan (just make sure it’s plastic moulded), or hire one for a small fee from the Parks Victoria office or from one of the nearby towns.
With a looped network of 5 ski trails (totalling 12km) accessed from the car park, there is plenty of exploring to fill a day. Mt St Gwinear's trails are ungroomed.
A great way to get your ski-legs ready is the Winter Walking Track (just 600m each way) that snakes its way to a lookout and affords dizzying views over the park.
Hire your ski gear from Erica before arriving.
