South Gippsland is bountiful with surf beaches dotted along the points of the coast. Venus Bay consistently delivers powerful swells throughout the year. Waratah Bay is nearby, as well as Cape Paterson that provides world-class breaks. Whilst Sandy Point is a sheltered beach, perfect for learners and delivers plenty of white water that is sure to grow the confidence.

Inverloch is an awesome spot to hit up during the summer holidays, with its popular surf beach sure to get you riding a great big barrel.

Wilsons Promontory’s Squeaky Beach is relatively exposed with pristine water and great swells throughout the cooler months. Tidal River can get crowded in the hotter months, but for good reason, delivering consistently substantial breaks.

Bang smack in the middle of the Bass Strait coastline, resides many pristine and uncrowded surf beaches. Red Bluff at Lakes Tyers Beach has left and right breaks over 1 metre high. Whilst Lakes Entrance has easy lapping waves with minimal crowds and supports the learning process.

Cape Conran Coastal Park’s Pearl Point is a gnarly section of coast with a rough and rugged surf beach perfect for the daredevils.

Salmon Rocks affords great left handers which peel down close to the rocks and requires skillful maneuvering on the way out.

Mallacoota is more than the abalone capital of Victoria, it’s well protected Bastion Point is a wonderful beach for beginner surfers.

The westernmost point of the island, Summerlands and The Nobbies, are beach heavyweights, with a few great surfing breaks. It also houses the Little Penguins as they waddle down the beach to say hello.

Cape Woolamai has world class beach breaks with up to 2 metre waves, when the wind plays along.

For barrels head to Smiths Beach, which also hosts surf schools. This is where newbies learn to surf and the experts show off their manoeuvres on the consistent waves.
