Nestled between the Great Dividing Range to the north and the Strzelecki Ranges to the south, Moe is a gateway town to some poetic national parks, practically begging to be explored by those with a penchant for bushwalking, camping, 4x4 and fishing.

Things to do in Moe

Stroll around town, taking in the many murals adorning the town centre by local artist Steve Bechaz. The street art is scattered around town as part of the annual Show Me Some Art Festival, adding a colour pop to the streetscape.

Head to Haunted Hills Mountain Bike Park for 13km of trails, for beginners to advanced levels. There’s a pump track and a kids trail too.

Walk the streets of 1850s Gippsland at Old Gippstown. This once-upon-a-time collection of relocated buildings, horse-drawn vehicles, vintage cars and fire trucks tell the animated story of early European settlement in Victoria.

Parks & nature

In the centre of town, Moe Botanic Gardens offers a tranquil oasis of native and exotic trees and a labyrinth of walking paths. It’s also the starting point of the 8.5km Moe-Yallourn Rail Trail which takes you to the Yallourn Power Station via charming countryside and luscious Lake Narracan.

A walk through the peaceful Edward Hunter Bush Reserve doesn’t disappoint with remnant bushland and a large lake - the centrepiece of the park - home to ducks and water hens.

The secret’s out about the fishing and boating hotspot, Blue Rock Lake. With easy access boat ramps, kayaking, swimming and walking tracks, this scenic lake makes a great day-trip.

Behind their exotic arched windows, Tommy Brock Café take your favourites up a notch - think pulled brisket eggs benedict or crispy prawn tacos with a cold Corona.

By day, Twenty20 Tapas is your go-to coffee window; by night, it's all bold share plates and cocktails. The baked gnocchi with lamb ragu is rich, comforting and not to be missed.
