Travel through bucolic countryside to this serene and very pretty lake. On the drive up itself, you will be blessed with stunning views across the scenic rolling hills that make up this part of Victoria.

The large expanse of water is a hotspot for swimming, recreational boating and fishing. In early summer when the water levels are still high, you'll see a sea of lilos and inflatables on hot days, cooling off in the calm, gentle water hole.

The scenic area is laced with picnic and barbecue areas. Bring a camp chair and settle in under the shady gum trees with a good book.

Those travelling with a boat: There's a public boat ramp at Sandy Point.

The lake is slowly drained over late summer and autumn as it's the irrigation supply for local farms. If rainfall has been high leading in to summer, good swimming may extend through the warmer months.

Bring along the boat and water skis; this spot is perfect for all watersports and getting the family active, with a boat ramp at Sandy Point.
Warm up before hitting the water, on one of the walking trails around the lake, starting in the neighbouring Glenmaggie Regional Park.
Angling in this popular inland lake is ideal for catching trout, bass, carp and redfin, drop your line in near Coongulla Community Hall.
The Lake Glenmaggie Weir Wall is an interesting picnic location with barbeques and many picnic spots, celebrate clean green energy with the amazing view of the hydro electricity generation station.
