Starting from the eastern end of town, take a leisurely walk down Main St through the heart of Bruthen. Take in cosy cafes, art and collectable shops. The trail takes a hard turn from Main St to the left, passing over the top of a tunnel then merging with the East Gippsland Rail Trail.
As you approach the river, the path weaves to the left following the Tambo River, separating from the rail trail. This riverside section passes native bushland teeming with birdlife. The trail then swings to the left through a pretty section lined with European trees, and a backdrop of idyllic gently sloping farmland.
