The murals along the heritage buildings are a nod to the town’s historical past, which grew alongside the development of the railway in the late 1800s.

Baromi Park is centrally located and offers a playground, barbecues and skate park.

Mirboo North is the start point of the 13km Grand Ridge Rail Trail. Starting in Boolarra, the gently ascending trail traverses hilly countryside, forested areas and takes in two new arch bridges.

Ten minutes out of town on the Strzelecki Highway toward Morwell is the Lyrebird Forest Walk, a 5km loop along a bush track alongside a gentle stream.
