4.6km, 1.5 hrs | Lakes Entrance | Follow the lake’s edge along this well-trodden path, to view the meeting of the Gippsland Lakes and the Southern Ocean.
This loop walk stretches between the footbridge and The Entrance. Cross over the footbridge from the Esplanade, and turn right onto the walking track. The trail dips in and out of low-lying coastal bush, alongside the Cunninghame Arm, affording lakeside views and glimpses toward The Esplanade.
Once you reach the historic Flagstaff Hill, revel in views of boats crossing the bar. Seals can often be spotted lazing on the rocks and you might get to see some pelicans. This is a beautiful place to be in the late afternoon just before sunset.
From here, you can make the walk an out-an-back by going back the way you've come, or make it a loop walk and return along the sand of Ninety Mile Beach. When you reach the surf life saving tower, cut back over the walkway through the dunes to the footbridge.
