Next, stop off at Glenmaggie Wines (Tinamba West), with stunning cellar door and restaurant. The freshest produce is sourced from their own garden and surrounding farms and transformed by the kitchen team into delicious dishes like pork belly and charcuterie platters, just perfect to enjoy alongside Glenmaggie wines.

Venture to Blue Gables Vineyard (Maffra West Upper), a boutique winery and cellar door. Situated high on a hill, the vineyard experiences temperature extremities that create elegant wines, best paired with their wood fired pizzas.

Spend the afternoon at Maffco Brewery & Taphouse (Maffra), a converted 100-year-old factory that slings pale ale, lager and farmhouse ales. Maffco focuses on local produce and relationships with local producers. Follow it up with a visit to Myrtlebank Roaming Farms to stock up on freshly prepared, ready-to-go meals and local produce. Everything on offer at this farm gate is sold by local farmers who have come together under one roof to show off their excellent work.

Finish off your getaway with a breakfast of champions at Maffra’s Coffee House 138. They are known locally for their epic burgers and delicious breakfasts – try the Benny Pig with pulled pork, bacon and chilli hollandaise.

Before you head back to real life, linger a bit longer in this rural idyll by stopping in at the Gippsland Art Gallery (Sale), region's premier destination for the visual arts. The Gallery is located at the Port of Sale, overlooking the historic river, port and parklands. Every year the Gallery hosts around thirty exhibitions of local, national and international artists, in addition to an enviable permanent collection.
