30 - 60km, 8 hrs - 3 days | Briagolong State Forest | Discover alluvial gold mines amongst wildlife and wildflowers on the southern fall of the Great Dividing Range.
Journey through the heart of this historical area. The site carries significance of alluvial gold mines from the late 1800s, and dating back even further, the Briakoloong people also utilised the forest for their resources.
Track 96 is the longest and newest of the many accessible walks in the Freestone Creek area. Known as the Briagolong State Forest Walk, it can be commenced from the north or the south with many picnic and camping spots dotted along the way.
There maybe some creek crossing depending on the time of year and find wildlife, wildflower displays and bush gullies.
