Gippsland has hundreds of kilometres of coastline, including around a dozen coastal and marine parks.
Discover kelp forests, seagrass meadows, underwater reefs and sandy bays, supporting a diverse range of cool water marine life. Expect to find seastars, crabs, snails, zebra fish, rock lobsters and Port Jackson sharks.
South Gippsland
Off the coast of South Gippsland lies the Bunurong Coast, which spans 17km of dramatic coastline between Kilcunda and Inverloch. It houses a wide range of habitats amongst its substantial rock platforms and underwater reefs. For the most populated underwater areas set off from Eagles Nest, Shack Bay, Cape Paterson, Flat Rocks and Inverloch.
Walk straight past the lazy sunbathers to the underwater rock pools at Shelley Beach in Kilcunda. The crystal clear water and detailed seabed is perfect for snorkeling.
Wilsons Promontory is the gift that keeps on giving. Head to Fairy Cove by foot and take the hike to the next level with a snorkeling adventure once you reach the stunning and remote bay.
East Gippsland
Near Marlo lies Cape Conran Coastal Park, this is a popular spot in Gippsland for scuba diving. Check out the underwater worlds off West Cape Beach and Salmon Rocks.
