4.2km, 1.5 hrs | Tidal River - Squeaky Beach | One of the most popular walks at Wilsons Promontory, offering sweeping coastal views between two of the park's most loved beaches.
The track is especially wonderful on a clear day when you can admire the bright blue water at Squeaky Beach from above. Starting from the Tidal River Footbridge (at the western end of the campsite), climb over the headland through coastal bush, passing over the ridge that separates Norman Bay and Squeaky Beach. You can take the shortest route inland, or add on a detour (around 1km return) out to Pillar Point for spectacular ocean panoramas.
The track descends onto the southern end of Squeaky Beach, passing interesting rock formations. You can walk the full stretch of Squeaky Beach's dazzling white quartz sand, to the northern end of the beach which abounds in a labyrinthe of granite boulders.
From here, it's possible to continue north to Leonard Bay, or over the next headland to Picnic and Whisky Bays.
