5.6km return | Bairnsdale | Become acquainted with the both sides of the Mitchell River.

This trail passes idyllic picnic spots and information boards along the way. Cheering you along is a 170 year old tree bearing a 4m long scar where bark was peeled away to make a canoe by Indigenous Australians.

After crossing the narrow footbridge you ride through the quaint botanical gardens and on to the wide trail alongside the river. This is easy riding with several places to stop. At about the halfway mark you cross the Mitchell River over to the Bairnsdale side, where you can enjoy a cup of coffee or a pub meal.
