  3. The Inverloch Glamping Co. Is Your New Coastal Crush

Ocean views, a long soak beneath the trees and a bed you’ll be in no hurry to leave. At The Inverloch Glamping Co., the great outdoors comes with some great creature comforts.

On the edge of Inverloch, 2 hours southeast of Melbourne, this intimate retreat brings together landscaped gardens, a farmland outlook and the sounds of the ocean. The property has a range of accommodation styles from geodesic domes and bell tents to pocket-sized cabins, dialling up the luxe a notch from your standard camping holiday. With just 5 places to stay onsite, this is an intimate retreat with plenty of space to feel away from it all.

Spend your days exploring Inverloch and the Bunurong Coast, then come home to a hammock, a leisurely dinner and an evening with very little on the agenda.

GLAMPING & CABINS BY THE COAST

Choose your own version of switching off. Anderson’s Let, the geodesic dome, frames the ocean through a huge viewing window, with a private deck for taking in the changing light. The Berry and Boysen beach cabins pair cosy interiors with wood fires, making a cool coastal evening something to look forward to.

For a little canvas romance, Honey & Coffee is a spacious bell tent with garden and ocean views. Or stretch out in Salty Mutton, a safari tent with a covered deck, a king bed that can split into 2 singles, and a stone bath in its semi-enclosed bathroom.

OUTDOOR BATHS BENEATH THE STARS

Bath time deserves a proper place on the itinerary here. The outdoor Bath House has 2 iron soaking tubs tucked beneath trees threaded with fairy lights. Sink into warm water, look up through the branches and let the evening take its time. Book a session with the hosts; the experience is weather dependent.

There are private bathing options too. The dome and both beach cabins have barrel baths, while Honey & Coffee has an outdoor tin bath for 2. A coastal walk followed by a long soak is a fairly convincing argument for extending the weekend.

SLOW EVENINGS AT THE GLAMPING GROUNDS

Bring something delicious back for dinner and make yourself at home in the shared Camp Kitchen. Rescued timbers, ocean views and a fireplace give it plenty of character, while the well-equipped kitchen and barbecues make cooking part of the pleasure.

Eat slowly, linger over another glass or find a spot in the fairy-lit teepee. Tomorrow’s plans can wait.
