Warragul is fast becoming a hub for great shopping. This friendly, bustling town is full of original stores that offer a unique, personalised shopping experience, great customer service and thoughtfully curated brands and products.
If there's one store that ticks all of those boxes, it's kitchenware and spice emporium, String & Salt.
Located in the heart of Smith Street, String & Salt was founded by husband and wife team Dave and Michelle Cann in 2014, and over the years the business has grown into a brand that is highly regarded in West Gippsland region.
We wanted to bring brands and products to Baw Baw that reflected our love of home, food, good design and sharing with friends and family.
String & Salt offers tasteful, modern homewares, and a tantalising range of quality spices, herbs and original blends from their brand, Spice Oddity.
The evocative aroma of spices ignites your senses as you browse the store, with a rainbow of coloured powders in apothecary style jars lining the shelves from floor to ceiling. Friendly staff will greet you and carefully weigh and package whatever you need to complement your home-cooking.
Among the homewares range you’ll find gorgeous mugs and teapots, pizza paddles, cheese boards, quality knives, stylish aprons, cast iron pots, and more - everything you need for vibrant entertaining, and beautifying your kitchen.
You’ll also find locally manufactured products including coffee beans from Swig Coffee Roasters, artwork by Printmaker, Helen Timbury, and organic soaps and bath products by Barany Naturals. There are so many things in store to make the perfect gift.
There’s a lot going on in this store beyond selling spices and cookware. Upstairs you’ll find a dedicated kitchen and dining space. String & Salt offer hands-on workshops to master the art of salting, curing, dry aging, sausage-making and butchery. The workshops are perfect for anyone wanting to learn, have fun and experience good food.
Alongside the retail store and cooking school you’ll also find String & Salt’s premier kitchen showroom which is home to an array of quality kitchen and laundry appliances and fireplaces set to inspire and complement any home. Among the range is Dave and Michelle’s own appliance brand, Cleaver Salumi Cabinets - a range of specialist devices for curing salami and charcuterie at home all year round.
We love the Baw Baw region, you couldn’t find a better community to live and do business in. There is so much going for West Gippsland - a solid economy and thriving small business community, fantastic schools, and it’s easy traveling distance to city, coast, and alpine regions
