News Stargazing Gippsland
Gippsland is blessed with some of the best stargazing opportunities in the country thanks to its low light pollution. We have identified 13 incredible locations for starry adventures.
Stars aren’t just giant balls of hot gas... for the GunaiKurnai people they also tell stories about the past and prepare us for the seasons. Like the Southern Cross, which represents a mother emu. One winter's day, she drowned trying to save a boy stuck in a river (the Milky Way), making the ultimate sacrifice, giving up her life to save his. When you see the emu’s head under the river, you will know it is wintertime.
