The story-book-like village of Dinner Plain is a cosy little hang-out that caters to both those wanting a bit of R&R as well as the more actively inclined.

Wake up surrounded by the Alpine National Park and embark on a day full of fun and adventure, or just breathe in the fresh snowgum scented air and take it easy. No matter which option you choose, take a short stroll for a freshly brewed coffee or beer from Australia’s highest brewery, Blizzard Brewing Company.

Adrenaline-junkies this way:

  • Don’t have the funds for resort entry fees and ski lift passes? Can’t be bothered heading back up the mountain after skiing down? Snowshoeing is the perfect activity that is easy on the wallet and still gets you out into the fresh alpine air with endless views of the national park. Hire snowshoes in the village and embark on a self-guided tour.
  • Take your mountain biking experience to new heights. The Dinner Plain MTB Park has many trails with varying difficulty and is an exciting way to spend the day during green season.
  • During the hotter months, between November and April, the snow has melted exposing a wildflower exhibition amongst the alpine grasslands. Head out of Dinner Plain on foot to find sweeping views, mountain summits and Carmichael Falls, a 25 metre double waterfall.
  • Explore your surroundings at a whole new level with trail running. Jog along the easy and flat, or choose something more strenuous with the incline and decline trails weaving in and out of Dinner Plain. Try the JB Plain Walk, The Village Loop or Collectors Cirque.
  • Ramp up altitude training on the highest sealed road in Australia, cycle to Hothem or Omeo and back. This is perfect for experienced riders wanting to challenge themselves with the crisp thin air.

No thanks, I take it slow:

  • You are in Australia’s Alpine National Park, so when the fields turn green breathe in the sweetly scented air and enjoy the wildflower display with a walk in the park. There are also a few easy strolls through Dinner Plain including the peaceful 1.2km Gitzy’s Circuit Trail, providing you with a smorgasbord of dazzling panoramas as well as exhibiting the picturesque village.
  • Dinner Plain draws its relaxation offerings from Japan, India and beyond. At the end of a stimulating day exploring, indulge at the hot pools at Onsen Retreat + Spa or head to Myabi for an Ayurvedic treatment.
