Tyers Park is home to the seductive Tyers Gorge formed between steep-sided slopes above the Tyers River. Tie up your laces and explore the walking trails, bushlands and dizzying views from Petersons Lookout.
Highlights
- Take the 400m stroll (10 minutes one way) to the craggy Petersons Lookout for show-stopping views over Tyers River Gorge toward the Latrobe Valley
- Visit the park during spring to see the ground blanketed with wildflowers
- Stock up on some gourmet goodies if you’re passing through Warragul or Yarragon to enjoy at Wirilda Picnic Area
- Pack a tent so you can take your time exploring the park - bush camping is permitted
Walking
If you’ve got the legs for it, the Wirilda Track (18km, 6 hours one way) winds along the river and through silvergum forest, laced with wattle and tea tree. This is recommended for experienced walkers due to unsealed surfaces and steep sections.
