Just around the corner is Macca’s Farm where you can stock up on free range ethical meats and freshly-plucked fruit and veg. You can pick your own strawberries in season, see the pigs (happy in mud) and enjoy a true paddock to plate meal from the onsite café.
Head through Grantville, where you can visit native animals at Maru Koala and Animal Park or enjoy a round of mini golf. Then take the Grantville-Glen Alvie Road toward Kernot.
Kernot – Kongwak
21km | 19 mins
Lush green hills seem to roll on forever in this delightful section. While Kernot is a pocket-sized town, the Kernot Food and Wine Store sure packs a punch of country hospitality and this place is buzzing with visitors - with good reason. Wood fired pizzas, pies and cakes are on the hit list at this beautiful heritage café.
The Kongwak Market is held every Sunday (10am – 2pm), and is the place to go for collectables, retro and vintage ware, as well as fresh produce, second-hand goods, books and plants. There’s coffee, food and live music adding to the festival feel. Bonus, it’s undercover, so it’s winter-friendly.
Just out of town, the bustling Kongwak Scenic Lookout has stunning views across patchwork farmland toward the coast and is well worth a quick detour.

Kongwak – Archies Creek
17km | 13 mins
Make a beeline for Archies Creek. Along the way you’ll find Bass Coast Paintball (they even have gentler “Splatmaster” for the younger kids).
The Archies Creek Hotel’s live music line-up draws a crowd from miles around. Kick back with burgers, tapas and rustic pizzas, and soak up the tunes at their popular Sunday sessions.
