THINGS TO DO IN VENUS BAY

  • Families can delight in the gentle, protected waters around Anderson Inlet, laying claim to Victoria’s longest sand spit. The calmer waters are also popular for boating and fishing.
  • For wilder waves, the tiny town boasts five epic surf beaches, named No.1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. Who needs an imaginatively named beach when you have a Mecca for surfers, beach goers and kite surfers?
  • Walk amongst the coastal banksia and pockets of tea tree along the Point Smythe Nature Trail in the Cape Liptrap Coastal Park. Many take the shaded, gravel path on mountain bike, and there are other mountain bike trails at the park which are accessible from the main track.
  • The easy 5km walk or ride along the Venus Bay to Tarwin Lower Shared Pathway follows the kinks of the Tarwin River.
  • It's a short drive to the Cape Liptrap Lighthouse where you can take a short (wheelchair and pram friendly) walk along dramatic coastline from the car park to the lighthouse.
  • More beach exploring awaits following the coastline to the west: check out Walkerville South, Waratah Bay and Sandy Point.
  • Explore the artistic town of Fish Creek, flush with galleries, studios and boutique stores.
